Active members of the community, the developer clients envision a flexible courtyard that could host parties, art receptions, and intimate gatherings. With this in mind, we designed several spaces that, through the articulation of walls, trees, and water, help to define the programs that could take there. People can gather in the main court, defined by planes of paving with bands of gravel that allow for water infiltration. The “living room” offers a more intimate space centered around a fire element. A water element invites people to move from inside to outside and wade in its cool pond. A small gravel area to the side provides a place to dine under the shade of trees.
